Periodontal Maintenance

Periodontal maintenance may be prescribed after you have completed active treatment. This is decided upon by your home care, level of disease and response. Your General Dentist and Dr. Gold will discuss the appropriate interval for you. This may mean alternating recalls, seeing Dr. Gold once per year, or not at all. Many cases can be maintained nicely withing the hygiene program at the dentists office.

Periodontal maintenance is similar to your regular recall, but it does not replace your visit to your GP.

You will get special attention to the area under the gums at your periodontal recall but will not be evaluated for cavities and other tooth needs that occur above the gumline. This is why you will need a combined effort between you, your general dentist and us to maintain periodontal health and prevent tooth loss.
